Last Thursday, STCU sponsored a “MoneyLive” event at the high school. The Junior & Senior classes learned about budgeting through an interactive series of activities focused on financial literacy. This educational event let students play the role of adults as they made long-term financial choices on housing, food expenditures, childcare, insurance, auto loans, and more. Special thanks to STCU and our community volunteers Kristina Kiss, Jen Wujick, & Rhonda McKenzie for making this event possible, it was a great experience for our students!

Selkirk Ranger Community; to honor our neighboring Cusick School District and respect the Wellpinit Community, the Battle for the Paddle festivities scheduled for Thursday night (January 16th) have been canceled. The junior varsity and varsity boys’ games will still take place in Cusick at 4:30 and 6:00. However, the spirit bus will no longer travel to the game. Thank you for your support and contributions to the Battle for the Paddle competition this week. The Middle School/High School will still host the planned dress-up days and assembly. We will also gladly continue to take food donations for our local food bank. We appreciate your understanding as we postpone this good-natured rivalry until next year. During this time, let us come together as a united community.

🎉🎄 What an eventful day with our beloved elementary school elves, Bernard and Bernadette who had fun with all the children! It seems the elves hid the gingerbread man baked by our kindergarteners, but we found him safe and sound in the computer lab! 😂🍪 The elf race for grades 1-5 was a blast as students ran through Metaline Falls looking for the elves and their presents, reminding us how lucky we are to be Selkirk Rangers! Wishing everyone a lovely holiday season filled with joy and magic. See you all next year! ✨

Selkirk High School is partnering with InvestED to generate funds to assist students in need. InvestED provides funding that supports secondary schools throughout Washington State. Last school year, InvestED helped nearly 25,000 students in over 600 schools across the state, with over $900,000 in program support. InvestED’s mission is to provide immediate help for students in need, with a goal of encouraging students to get to school, engage in school, and graduate. This year Selkirk is collaborating with InvestED to create an online funding campaign where 100% of the money raised by the community will stay in the community to benefit our students. In Addition, InvestED will match up to $500 per school, per school year. We are asking for your donation to make a large impact on students who desperately need our support. Follow the link below to donate, and THANK YOU! https://invested.org/campaigns/selkirk-middle-slash-high-school-selkirk

The Selkirk music program is once again looking for donations of used instruments. Students in grades 5-12 are able to participate in band using a school instrument rather than renting one from a music store. However, we do not have enough brass instruments to meet the interest. If you have a band instrument at home and no longer use it, you can drop it off at either the elementary or high school office and we'll refurbish it for our music program! Thank you to those who have donated in the past as well as those of you willing to dig through those closets to donate now!
