🍎💚 May Teachers of the Month 💚🍎
Throughout the school year, the House of Hope in Ione, in partnership with local businesses, has recognized Selkirk teachers with special gift baskets to acknowledge their hard work, dedication, and commitment to students. We are grateful for this thoughtful community support of our educators.
For the month of May, we are proud to recognize two outstanding staff members:
💚 Brian Hedrick – High School Teacher of the Month
As Selkirk's shop teacher, Mr. Hedrick brings extensive experience from the industrial metalworking field and uses that expertise to prepare students for successful careers in welding and the skilled trades. He is passionate about helping students develop real-world skills while building confidence in their abilities.
Whether guiding students through welding projects, fabrication work, or problem-solving challenges, Mr. Hedrick emphasizes teamwork, craftsmanship, accountability, and career readiness. His dedication helps students gain valuable skills that will serve them well long after graduation.
💚 Josh Herder – Elementary Teacher of the Month
Mr. Herder serves as Selkirk's speech-language pathologist, working with students in grades K–12 across both school buildings. Through his patience, expertise, and encouragement, he helps students develop communication skills that support their success in the classroom and beyond.
In addition to his work as a speech pathologist, Mr. Herder leads the middle school and high school Gaming Club, and works hard to ensure that all students feel welcome, valued, and included in the Selkirk community.
Congratulations to Mr. Hedrick and Mr. Herder, and thank you for the positive impact you make on the lives of Selkirk students every day! 💚🖤🤍
